Qualia 5<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This 5 piece experimental collection considers color as negative space, and the idea of random fractals, as it pertains to human created art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualia deeply contributes to our sense of connection as humans. Because every human’s perception, and subjective experiences, are different. It’s responsible for how remarkably different <\/em>two siblings can view their shared childhood. Why others might never guess they grew up under the same roof, and shared the same parents, during an overlapping time span. What’s comfortable for one, may be an unbearable burden for another. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualia 5<\/em> is the result of seeing what happens if I limit the images I use to simple shapes, and focus on their negative space. What happens when I abandon my difficult need for uniformity, and seize one glorious moment of randomness? Did it spark joy? Does it communicate what it feels like to be a human, existing right now? Am I creating something I’ve never seen before, that made me go a little deeper down, beyond my comfort zone? Is it fun? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opaqueness of latex, combined with it’s ability to “leave no brush stroke behind”, makes for brush control that makes it feel like superpower. I painted these pieces on a standing desk that can be lowered or brought up as needed, during detail work, and while rotating the canvas in a continuous, clockwise direction to avoid smudging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
