The first time, is when our heart physically stops beating, while the second death occurs when our name ceases to be spoken, read or thought of again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Mame Loshn<\/em> translates \u201cmother tongue\u201d in Yiddish, a language I carry the torch for, deeply embedded not only in my heart, but my DNA. While Yiddish isn&#8217;t my mother tongue, it was for some of my ancestors. This study is my conscious effort to keep her alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Mame Loshn<\/em> is based on the experiences and memories of others that were poured into forms of inspired sound as music and lyrics, which in turn, inspired me to create this collection. This is the first time I\u2019ve signed work with my Hebrew\/Yiddish name, Gila Yovel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <em>big <\/em>shout out of thanks to Yiddish profeesor Dr. Avi Blitz, for not only continuing to teach this beautiful language, but it&#8217;s culture alongside every lesson, because Yiddish is inseparable from it&#8217;s language.
